Perum Lembaga Penyelenggara Pelayanan Navigasi Indonesia (Perum LPPNPI), also known as AirNav Indonesia, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States in Bangkok, Thailand. The signing was conducted by AirNav Indonesia's President Director, Polana Banguningsih Pramesti, and Timothy Arel, the Director of Operations for the FAA Air Traffic Organization, during the ICAO Thirty-Fifth Meeting of the Asia/Pacific Air Navigation Planning and Implementation Regional Group (APANPIRG/35), held from November 25 to 27, 2024. "This MoU aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of aviation navigation between Indonesia and the United States, focusing on technology development and enhancing flight safety," stated Polana in a press release from Jakarta on Wednesday. This initiative aligns with the commitment of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises to create a safer and more sustainable future for aviation navigation. Furthermore, Polana elaborated that both parties will collaborate on several strategic topics, including the development of CNS (communication, navigation, and surveillance) infrastructure and automation, airspace design and its procedures, flight data processing methodologies, air traffic flow management planning (ATFM), and the operation of unmanned aerial vehicles (including drones), among other collaborative efforts. This partnership also represents a significant advancement in strengthening the relationship between Indonesia and the United States in the field of aviation navigation. "By sharing knowledge and experience, we can collectively drive technology development, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure improved flight safety in Indonesian airspace and the Asia-Pacific region," Polana remarked. With the signing of this memorandum of understanding, AirNav Indonesia and the FAA are committed to further enhancing collaboration and fostering innovation to support the advancement of the global aviation industry.
