The Indonesian Navigation Service Provider Agency, known as AirNav Indonesia, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to enhance technological advancements and flight safety measures. The MoU was signed by AirNav Indonesia's President Director, Polana Banguningsih Pramesti, and Timothy Arel, the FAA's Air Traffic Organization Operations Director, during the ICAO Thirty-Fifth Meeting of the Asia/Pacific Air Navigation Planning and Implementation Regional Group (APANPIRG/35), which took place in Bangkok, Thailand, from November 25 to 27. Pramesti stated in a press release from Jakarta on Wednesday that the purpose of this MoU is to bolster bilateral cooperation in flight navigation between Indonesia and the United States, with a particular emphasis on technological development and enhancing flight safety. She emphasized that this initiative is in line with the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises' commitment to fostering a safer and more sustainable future for flight navigation. Pramesti elaborated that the collaboration will encompass various strategic areas, including the enhancement of communication, navigation, and surveillance (CNS) infrastructure and automation; the design and development of airspace and associated procedures; the formulation of flight data processing methodologies; the planning of air traffic flow management (ATFM); operations involving unmanned aerial vehicles, such as drones; and other joint initiatives. The agency highlighted that this partnership represents a significant advancement in strengthening the relationship between Indonesia and the United States in the realm of flight navigation. "Through the exchange of knowledge and expertise, we can collectively promote technological advancements, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure improved flight safety within Indonesian airspace and the broader Asia-Pacific region," Pramesti remarked. With the formalization of this MoU, AirNav Indonesia and the FAA are dedicated to reinforcing their collaboration and encouraging innovation to support the advancement of the global aviation sector, Pramesti concluded.
