Batik Air has announced the launch of a round-trip flight route between Jakarta and Banyuwangi in anticipation of the Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 holidays. Johan Seno Acton, the General Manager of Angkasa Pura Indonesia at Banyuwangi Airport, stated that Batik Air will commence operations on the Jakarta-Banyuwangi route starting December 29, 2024. "This service will complement the existing two flights from Jakarta to Banyuwangi, which are currently operated by Citilink and Super Air Jet," he mentioned in a written statement from Banyuwangi, East Java, on Monday. Johan detailed that the flight schedule from Soekarno Hatta Airport (CGK) is set for 11:20 AM WIB, arriving at Banyuwangi Airport (BWX) at 1:10 PM WIB. Conversely, the return flight will depart from Banyuwangi at 1:50 PM WIB, reaching Jakarta at 3:35 PM WIB. As part of the Lion Air Group, Batik Air will operate this route every Friday and Sunday. The resumption of Batik Air services is a result of coordination during a slot conference attended by airport officials earlier this month. Johan expressed hope for high occupancy rates, enabling Batik Air to maintain operations beyond the holiday period. "With the return of Batik Air, we anticipate providing passengers with additional airline options and supporting tourism in Banyuwangi," Johan stated. In response, Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani welcomed the return of Batik Air, which will enhance the existing flight options in the region. "This will undoubtedly have a positive impact on Banyuwangi, as increased air transport access will attract more visitors, thereby benefiting the local economy," Ipuk remarked.
