The Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo) has successfully organized six automotive exhibitions throughout 2024, resulting in a total transaction value of IDR 26 trillion. Rizwan Alamsjah, the Chairman of the Gaikindo Exhibition Committee, highlighted the significant achievements of this year's exhibitions. Gaikindo reported over 700,000 attendees across all six events, indicating a strong public interest in the development of Indonesia's automotive industry. "Additionally, the results recorded during the Gaikindo exhibition series in 2024 surpassed 50,000 vehicle units valued at IDR 26 trillion, a remarkable achievement that reflects the substantial potential of Indonesia's automotive sector," Rizwan stated in a press release on Thursday, December 19, 2024. He noted that the success of this year's exhibitions was also attributed to the participation of global automotive brands, showcasing the international interest in Indonesia's evolving automotive market. Various vehicle units featuring the latest innovations and technologies were launched and introduced, ranging from Indonesian Premier, Asian Premier, to World Premier, further solidifying Indonesia's image as a key automotive market in Asia and globally. However, Gaikindo's Chairman, Yohanes Nangoi, mentioned that the Indonesian automotive industry still faces several challenges that are likely to persist into the following year. "Therefore, the organization of exhibitions is crucial as a factor to stimulate growth and boost market enthusiasm, which is essential for maintaining the sustainability of the automotive industry in Indonesia," he explained. Gaikindo expressed concerns regarding the impact of tax options and the increase in Value Added Tax (VAT) to 12% in 2025, which poses a risk to the automotive industry. Furthermore, the government has also raised the provincial minimum wage (UMP) by 6.5% for 2025.
