Garuda Indonesia Is Preparing Hundreds Of Thousands Of Seats For The Upcoming Holiday Season

Garuda Indonesia Group has made available 1.4 million aircraft seats to accommodate flights during the Christmas and New Year holiday period. This allocation includes seats from the Citilink airline. 

"During this peak season, Garuda Indonesia Group has prepared a minimum of 1.4 million aircraft seats, comprising 741,514 seats for Garuda Indonesia flights and 717,560 seats for Citilink flights," stated Wamildan Tsani Panjaitan, the President Director of Garuda Indonesia, on Thursday, December 19, 2024. 

Wamildan further noted that the company will operate a total of 8,199 flight frequencies with a fleet readiness of 94 units, which includes 58 aircraft from Garuda Indonesia and 35 from Citilink. He also anticipates a 24 percent increase in passenger movement during the peak season compared to 2023. 

"The peak travel period is expected to occur between December 21, 2024, and January 5, 2025," he added. 

Wamildan explained that the company has arranged for 316 extra flights to service routes to Denpasar, Lombok, Medan (Kualanamu), Surabaya, Semarang, and Singapore. Additionally, Citilink will provide 210 supplementary flights to various popular destinations, including Denpasar, Medan (Kualanamu), Lombok, and Solo. 

"This number will continue to fluctuate in response to travel trends among the public. Garuda Indonesia is committed to optimizing operational readiness and services to ensure a seamless travel experience for those journeying during the Christmas and New Year holiday period," he remarked. 

Wamildan also highlighted several domestic and international flight destinations projected to experience high occupancy rates during this holiday season. 

"Domestic destinations include Denpasar, Sorong, Manado, Kualanamu, Jayapura, Pontianak, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, and Lombok, while international routes include Singapore, Haneda, and Narita," he clarified.
