A Variety Of New Vehicles Is Set To Enliven The National Automotive Market In 2025

Monday, 30 Dec 2024

The automotive market for four-wheeled vehicles in Indonesia is expected to remain vibrant in 2025. Several automotive brand holders (APM) have indicated plans to introduce new models in the upcoming year.

One such APM, PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM), intends to launch the Honda e:N1 in the first quarter of 2025. This model is anticipated to be Honda's first electric vehicle available in Indonesia.

"Honda e:N1 is part of our commitment to entering the era of electrification," stated Yusak Billy, Sales & Marketing and After Sales Director of Honda Prospect Motor, on Tuesday, December 24.

Details regarding the specifications or pricing of the Honda e:N1 have yet to be disclosed. The electric vehicle was previously showcased by Honda during the GIIAS 2024 exhibition in July. At the same event, Honda also presented the hybrid MPV, the Honda Step WGN e:HEV, and conducted a survey regarding the ideal price for this model. The average response indicated that consumers would prefer the vehicle to be priced around IDR 650 million.

Honda is open to introducing the Step WGN e:HEV in Indonesia, given the significant consumer enthusiasm. "The Honda Step WGN is under serious consideration for an introduction to the Indonesian market," Billy remarked.

Conversely, Billy noted that there are currently no plans to launch a new variant of the Honda Freed in Indonesia. This is notable as the third generation of the Honda Freed recently won the Japan Car of the Year 2024 award. In Indonesia, sales of the Honda Freed were halted in 2017 due to a decline in demand for boxy MPV designs.

Billy emphasized that the introduction of new models by Honda is always based on consumer demand, market trends, and conditions. "The timing of the launch and the types of vehicles presented are tailored to genuinely meet consumer needs and expectations," he explained.
