The electric vehicle market in Indonesia is set to become increasingly vibrant with the entry of the Chinese automotive manufacturer, XPeng, which will partner with Erajaya Group (ERAA) as its authorized distributor. XPeng will compete in the battery electric vehicle (BEV) segment alongside several Chinese competitors that have already established a presence in the Indonesian market, including Wuling, Chery, BYD, and GAC Aion. According to XPeng's official website, the company recorded sales of 36,695 vehicles in December 2024, reflecting an annual growth of 82%. In the fourth quarter of 2024, XPeng achieved sales of 91,507 units, marking a 52% increase year-on-year. This performance reportedly exceeded the company's quarterly sales targets. Consequently, from January to December 2024, XPeng recorded a total of 190,068 electric vehicle sales, representing a 34% year-on-year increase. The best-selling models include the XPeng Mona M03 and XPeng P7+, with sales exceeding 15,000 and 10,000 units, respectively. Other models available in the global market include the XPeng X9, G9, G6, P5, and G3i. Previously reported, a subsidiary of PT Erajaya Swasembada Tbk. (ERAA), PT Sinar Eka Selaras Tbk. (ERAL), announced that it has secured a significant contract with the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers, Shenzhen Xiaopeng Motors Supply Chain Management Co. Ltd., and Guangzhou Xiaopeng Motors Trading Co. Ltd. Additionally, ERAL's Corporate Secretary, Badar Teguh Mancik Alam, stated that under this agreement, XPeng is committed to collaborating with PT Era Inovasi Otomotif (EIO) as its official partner to establish a comprehensive distribution network for XPeng's electric vehicle products in Indonesia. "As XPeng's exclusive partner in Indonesia, EIO will manage sales and ensure high-quality service in accordance with XPeng's standards," Badar remarked.
