The Indonesian Anti-Dumping Committee (KADI) has revealed the findings of its investigation into alleged dumping practices concerning Cold Rolled Coil (CRC) steel products from Chinese manufacturers flooding the domestic market. KADI Chairman Danang Prasta Danial stated that imports of Chinese steel, often utilized as raw material in the automotive sector, have been confirmed to be dumped at prices ranging from 5% to 55% lower than the market rate. "KADI has completed the investigation and found evidence of dumping within a range of 5.9% to 55.6%," Danang informed Bisnis, as reported on Sunday, January 12, 2025. The committee has concluded its evidentiary process and is currently in discussions with the government regarding its implementation, specifically with the Ministry of Finance. Previously, KADI also finalized its investigation into allegations of dumping concerning imported hot rolled plate steel from Chinese companies. The results of this investigation could significantly impact the domestic steel industry. Over the past decade, KADI has conducted investigations into imported steel products from China to safeguard local producers. "KADI has just completed its investigation into hot rolled plate steel products originating from the People's Republic of China," Danang stated to Bisnis, as reported on Sunday, October 6, 2024. Local industry stakeholders have long warned about the dumping of imported steel products. Protective measures have included the imposition of tariffs as well as bans and restrictions. To ensure the protection of the domestic industry, KADI conducts investigations to determine whether the imported steel products are indeed being dumped. "If confirmed, we will recommend the imposition of anti-dumping duties (BMAD) commensurate with the findings of the investigation," he explained. According to previous reports, KRAS noted that the largest volume of imports for CR Coil/S products reached 1.36 million tons, followed closely by HR Coil products at 1.35 million tons during the period from January to October 2024. KRAS President Director Muhammad Akbar indicated that national CRC steel producers have been advocating for the application of BMAD for the past five years.
