The number of airline passengers and cargo volume at 37 airports is projected to increase in 2024. PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) reports that it served 155.9 million passengers, reflecting a 4% rise compared to 2023. Faik Fahmi, the President Director of InJourney Airports, indicated that this figure includes 118.03 million domestic passengers and 37.90 million international passengers throughout 2024. "This represents an increase of approximately four percent from the 150.1 million passengers recorded in 2023," Faik stated in a written statement, as cited on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. Faik noted that the number of aircraft movements decreased by four percent, from 1.21 million flights in 2023 to 1.16 million flights in 2024. He believes that the rise in passenger numbers amidst a decline in flight movements indicates that InJourney Airports, in collaboration with airlines, has successfully optimized flight slot times at airports and maintained a high passenger load factor. "The increase in passenger numbers is driven by strong collaboration within the aviation ecosystem to sustain a positive trend in the post-pandemic flight market," Faik remarked. He further emphasized that InJourney Airports is committed to fostering growth in the aviation market and enhancing air connectivity in Indonesia by opening new routes and increasing flight frequencies on existing routes. This initiative aims to strengthen the aviation sector's contribution to national economic and tourism growth. "The number of passengers at all InJourney Airports reflects 90 percent of the total airline passengers in Indonesia," Faik added. He mentioned that InJourney Airports served approximately 200 flight routes last year, with a composition of 60 percent domestic routes and 40 percent international routes. Faik highlighted that the growth in both domestic and international routes aligns with government policies regarding the designation of 17 international airports since April 2024.
