Garuda Indonesia Group is set to operate an additional 68 flights through its full-service airline, Garuda Indonesia, and the low-cost carrier, Citilink, during the period from January 24 to February 2, 2025. Wamildan Tsani Panjaitan, the President Director of Garuda Indonesia, detailed that Garuda Indonesia will conduct 43 of these additional flights, which includes the operation of four wide-body aircraft. Meanwhile, Citilink will increase its frequency by 25 flights. "This increase in flight frequency is implemented to anticipate the surge in passenger numbers projected to occur during this period, particularly on popular routes among the public," he stated in a written statement on Sunday, January 26, 2025. Wamildan further explained that with this capacity enhancement, Garuda Indonesia Group will offer a minimum of 1.2 million flight seats, comprising approximately 889,000 seats from Garuda Indonesia and 373,000 seats from Citilink. Consequently, Garuda Indonesia anticipates an average daily passenger load factor of around 54,000, representing a 25 percent increase compared to the previous period, which recorded an average of 41,000 passengers per day. Citilink also projects a passenger load factor of approximately 30,000 per day, reflecting a 6.3 percent increase compared to passenger transport outside the long weekend period, which recorded 29,000 passengers. Wamildan noted that the peak departure period during this long holiday is expected to occur on January 25, 2025, while the peak return is projected for February 2, 2025. "We anticipate that passenger traffic will continue to fluctuate dynamically, as travel trends are expected to persist through the upcoming weekend," Wamildan explained.
