Erick Thohir: Discussions Regarding Discounts On Airline Tickets For The Eid Holiday Have Already Taken Place

Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir has announced that discussions are underway regarding discounts on airline ticket prices for the 2025 Eid al-Fitr travel season. 

"We initiated this yesterday with the 100-day program of the President of the Republic of Indonesia. We successfully reduced ticket prices by 10 percent during the Christmas and New Year period, and today we are beginning discussions for the upcoming Eid," Erick stated in a press release received in Jakarta on Wednesday. 

He emphasized that the Ministry of BUMN and all state-owned enterprises are committed to supporting the vision of President Prabowo Subianto. The success in lowering airline ticket prices during the Christmas and New Year 2024/2025 period is attributed to collaboration and cross-sector cooperation. 

"We, from the Ministry of BUMN and all existing state-owned enterprises, continuously support the vision of President Prabowo Subianto and the government’s programs through their respective ministries. The success stories we have achieved thus far are undoubtedly due to cross-sector collaboration and our commitment to real implementation," he remarked. 

Additionally, Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwaghandi indicated that his ministry is actively coordinating with various stakeholders regarding the plan to reduce airline ticket prices for the Eid al-Fitr transportation in 2025. 

In relation to airline ticket prices during the Eid period, Dudy has proposed that the policy of reducing ticket prices be reinstated, similar to the approach taken during the Christmas and New Year 2024/2025 period. 

According to the Minister of Transportation, this policy has positively impacted the national aviation industry, with domestic flights experiencing a year-on-year growth of approximately 10.3 percent and an average load factor of 80 percent. 

He expressed that the Ministry of Transportation shares the same spirit in facilitating public access, particularly by lowering airline ticket prices during the Eid transportation period to benefit a larger number of people.
