The automotive industry in 2025 is poised for growth and holds significant promise, largely driven by the public's interest in electric vehicles. The automotive market is invigorated by the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS), scheduled to take place from February 13 to 23, 2025, at JIEXPO, Kemayoran, Jakarta. However, the automotive sector's performance is also heavily reliant on multisectoral policies that influence consumer purchasing power. "The market for electric vehicles is expected to expand," stated Riyanto, an automotive analyst from the Institute for Economic and Social Research at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia (LPEM FEB UI), in an interview with Antara in Jakarta on Wednesday. The government is making efforts to provide various supporting facilities that will facilitate the use of electric vehicles in the country. The growth of electric vehicles is attributed to a range of innovations and technologies presented by automotive manufacturers marketing their products in Indonesia. "There are still incentives available, a wide variety of models, and options for 7-seater EVs," he added The Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo) aims for sales of 1 million units, while the Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association (AISI) projects motorcycle sales to reach between 6.4 and 6.7 million units.
