The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) this year will collaborate with three airlines to send off the 1446H/2025M hajj pilgrims. The Director General of Hajj and Umrah Organization of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Hilman Latief, said that the Ministry of Religious Affairs is ready to make official contracts with the three airlines. However, Hilman did not reveal the three airlines in question. "For this year, we are collaborating with three airlines and we are ready to make official contracts with the three airlines," said Hilman in a hearing with Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives at the Parliament Complex, Monday (24/2/2025). The Ministry of Religious Affairs has previously revealed three airlines that are considered to meet the requirements for organizing the 1446H/2025M hajj pilgrimage. In a meeting with the Working Committee (Panja) for the Cost of Organizing the 1446H/2025M Hajj Pilgrimage held in January 2025, Hilman revealed that there are two domestic airlines and one foreign airline that meet the requirements, both administratively and technically. The two domestic airlines are Garuda Indonesia and Lion Group and the foreign airline in question is Saudi Airlines. The selection process for providing air transportation for the 1446H/2025M hajj pilgrims is carried out based on the Decree of the Minister of Religion (KMA) No.1197/2024 concerning Guidelines for Provision of Air Transportation for the 1446H/2025M Hajj Pilgrims. "From several airlines that have been present or have been invited, it seems that there are two domestic airlines and one foreign airline that administratively meet the requirements and also technically," said Hilman. Reporting from the Kemenag website, Lion Air has signed a Cooperation Agreement for Air Transportation for Regular Hajj Pilgrims 1446H/2025M with the Directorate General of Hajj and Umrah Organization of the Ministry of Religion. Lion Air will serve the departure of hajj pilgrims this year through two embarkations, namely Padang (PDG) and Banjarmasin (BDJ). The airline will operate an Airbus 330 aircraft with a capacity of 423 people.
