Garuda Indonesia And Japan Airlines Collaborate, Strengthen Asia Pacific Flight Network

In an effort to expand flight coverage and improve passenger services, Garuda Indonesia has established a strategic collaboration with Japan Airlines through the Joint Business program. This collaboration aims to strengthen the business portfolio and market expansion of both airlines in the Asia Pacific region. 

This collaboration has been explored since October 2024 and will be implemented gradually on April 1, 2025. 

Garuda Indonesia and Japan Airlines will provide wider route connectivity, integrated flight services, and various attractive offers for service users. 

Wider Route Access and Competitive Prices 

Through this program, passengers will enjoy various benefits such as: 

Access to domestic and international flight routes of both airlines at special prices 

Direct check-in service to the final destination 

More efficient flight transfer process 

One-stop call center for information and ticket reservations 

Ease of collecting frequent flyer miles from both airlines 

Garuda Indonesia's Commercial Director, Ade R. Susardi, stated that this collaboration not only expands flight coverage, but also supports the development of national tourism. 

"We hope that this collaboration can increase the interest of Japanese tourists to visit cities in Indonesia such as Medan, Makassar, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, and others," said Ade. 

He also added that Garuda passengers now have easier and more affordable access to various cities in Japan besides Tokyo, such as Osaka, Okinawa, Fukuoka, Sapporo, and Hiroshima. 

Strengthening Economic Relations between Indonesia and Japan 

Ross Leggett, Managing Executive Officer and Senior Vice President of Route Marketing of Japan Airlines, emphasized that this collaboration has strategic value for strengthening economic and cultural relations between Japan and Indonesia. 

"We believe that this collaboration will not only benefit passengers, but will also support the growth of trade and cultural relations between the two countries," he said. As part of the initial implementation of the collaboration, Garuda Indonesia is offering special prices for flights to Tokyo starting from IDR 7 million (round trip) from Jakarta and Denpasar. This promo is valid for bookings from March 7-13, 2025 for travel starting April 1, 2025. Tickets are available through various official Garuda Indonesia sales channels.
