Friday, 26 Jul 2024

Hyundai Motors Indonesia held an event to hand over the all-new KONA Electric units to the first 3 customers at the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2024 located at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City on July 25, 2024. During the same event, Hyundai Motors Indonesia also symbolically handed over 10 units of the all-new KONA Electric to PT Blue Bird Tbk (Bluebird) to support cleaner mobility in the Indonesian archipelago.

The handover of the all-new KONA Electric, which took place a week after the electric vehicle (EV) was officially launched, reaffirms Hyundai's commitment to leading the electrification of vehicles in the country. The presence of the all-new KONA Electric as the first EV in Indonesia with locally produced batteries also proves that Hyundai's complete EV ecosystem is ready to provide more sustainable mobility solutions that can drive the industry's sustainability.

Woojune Cha, President Director of Hyundai Motors Indonesia, said, "Hyundai proudly demonstrates our commitment to accelerating electrification in Indonesia by introducing a complete EV supply chain, marked by the inauguration of the HLI battery cell factory producing the first local EV batteries.

This allows us to hand over the all-new KONA Electric to our partner Bluebird and the first 3 customers a week after its launch. In the future, Hyundai will continue to strengthen our EV ecosystem to ensure a worry-free EV ownership experience for the people of Indonesia."

Furthermore, Fransiscus Soerjopranoto, Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai Motors Indonesia, added, "We thank all customers for their enthusiasm towards the all-new KONA Electric. The positive response from consumers to the all-new KONA Electric gives us additional motivation to continue building the EV sector in Indonesia by introducing a variety of locally made EV models in the future."

Therefore, we continue to invite stakeholders, from the government to the private sector, to accelerate the electrification of the automotive industry that benefits consumers more, as we are currently doing with Bluebird."

Interpreting this collaboration, Adrianto (Andre) Djokosoetono, President Director of PT Blue Bird Tbk, welcomes the positive cooperation with Hyundai. "We appreciate Hyundai's consistent efforts in providing a line of high-quality electric vehicles to bring sustainable mobility closer to the wider community.

We are proud to have the opportunity to use the all-new KONA Electric to support clean mobility in IKN Nusantara, which indirectly contributes to Blue Bird's Sustainability Vision commitment to reduce emissions by 50 percent by 2030 and help the government achieve net zero emissions by 2060 or sooner.

Hyundai's swift action in handing over the all-new KONA Electric is directly appreciated by customers. "I am very happy to receive the all-new KONA Electric so quickly, as I just made the purchase in June.

Hyundai's readiness to introduce the all-new KONA Electric certainly reassures me that Hyundai's product and service ecosystem is indeed aimed at ensuring customer satisfaction. This is a very good first impression for me of Hyundai, and I can't wait to use the all-new KONA Electric for daily travel and take advantage of Hyundai's comprehensive electric vehicle ownership solutions," said Marco Dewanto, one of the first buyers of the all-new KONA Electric.

The all-new KONA Electric is now available at Hyundai dealerships throughout Indonesia. To explore more about Hyundai's latest product and service ecosystem and experience cutting-edge vehicle ownership, visit the Hyundai booth at GIIAS 2024 located in Hall 10 ICE, BSD City, on July 18-28, 2024.
