INACA And IBS Software Address Operational Disruptions In Aviation

Friday, 27 Sep 2024

The Indonesian National Air Carriers Association (INACA) has partnered with IBS Software to address operational disruptions in the aviation sector.

"INACA, in collaboration with IBS Software, a global provider of Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions for the travel industry, is conducting a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Managing Disruptions in Flight Operations," stated INACA's Vice Chairman I, Arif Wibowo, in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.

He noted that the aviation industry is increasingly reliant on advanced technology to enhance operational efficiency and safety. However, airlines frequently encounter complex disruptions in their operations.

"With the advancement of technology and the evolving circumstances, issues related to operational management, crew handling, and passenger services have become more susceptible to disruptions," he remarked.

He stated that this could create a domino effect, leading to significant inefficiencies and financial losses for airlines.

To mitigate these challenges, Arif emphasized that airlines must adopt proactive strategies that leverage the latest technological innovations to find effective solutions.

"By doing so, they can minimize the impact of disruptions, enhance operational reliability, and improve the management of disturbances for both passengers and crew," he remarked.

Furthermore, he noted the importance of addressing disruptions in flight operations, as their consequences can escalate operational costs.

Consequently, Arif indicated that the focus group discussion (FGD) serves as a collaborative effort to aid the recovery process within the Indonesian aviation industry and to support national economic growth in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I encourage participants to utilize the insights gained here and apply them to their daily operations," Arif stated.

In his view, the Indonesian aviation sector still has considerable work ahead to restore its industry, which was significantly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic from 2020 to 2022.

The ongoing efforts, including discussions such as this Focus Group Discussion (FGD), are crucial for revitalizing the industry and enhancing the national economy, Arif stated.

He further noted that the FGD, themed "Proactive Disruption Management on a Single-Source Airline Operations Platform," was attended by representatives from member airlines of INACA.

The speakers at the FGD included experts from IBS Software, namely Mr. Thierry Pfeiffer, Vice President for Airline Operations, Mr. Sunil George, Vice President and Region Head, and Ms. Jeanette See, Regional Head of Marketing.
