Wings Air Resumes Flights To Maumere Airport

Friday, 08 Nov 2024

Wings Air is set to resume its flight schedule to Fransiskus Xaverius Seda Maumere Airport (UPBU) in Sikka Regency, NTT, starting November 16, 2024. Danang Mandala Prihantoro, the Corporate Communications Strategic of Wings Air, announced that this decision comes after confirming that the airspace around the route to Maumere Airport is clear of volcanic ash from the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki.

"This flight will connect passengers from Eltari Kupang Airport to Frans Seda Maumere Airport on Flores Island, and from Maumere to Komodo Airport in Labuan Bajo," Danang stated in a press release on Sunday, October 3, 2024.

He explained that the previous flight delays were precautionary measures to ensure the safety and security of passengers and crew, given the potential risks posed by volcanic activity. Danang expressed hope that the resumption of this service would enhance mobility between regions in NTT.

Easier access will support the travel needs of local residents, reduce travel time, and facilitate business and tourism activities within the province of NTT.

Currently, Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Flores Regency remains at alert level III. Local residents and tourists are advised to adhere to the recommendations set forth by the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation.
