Friday, 08 Nov 2024

The management of West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati reported that the passenger load factor for flights to Singapore has reached an average of 80 percent since the route started on September 28, 2024.

"The flight schedule to Singapore operates twice a week, and the average passenger occupancy is currently 80 percent. This is great news for us," said M. Singgih, the CEO of PT BIJB, in a statement in Majalengka, West Java, on Monday.

Singgih noted that this achievement is very positive and reflects a strong interest from the public in this international flight route. He mentioned that if this positive trend continues, the flight schedule to Singapore could be increased to meet passenger demand.

He added that passengers flying to Singapore from BIJB Kertajati come from various regions in West Java and Central Java. "The aircraft used for the Singapore route has a capacity of 112 seats, which is considered suitable for current needs," he said.

BIJB Kertajati is working on opening new routes besides the Singapore route, but this depends on the airlines' readiness. "We are pushing for new routes at Kertajati Airport, but it also relies on the airlines," he said.

Additionally, Singgih mentioned that the Majalengka government plans to invest in BIJB Kertajati to boost the local economy by utilizing the airport. Currently, data shows that the majority of shares in BIJB Kertajati are held by the West Java provincial government at 66.94%, PT Angkasa Pura II at 25%, Koperasi Konsumen Praja Sejahtera at 1.2%, and PT Jasa Sarana at 0.5%.

"With 6.36% of shares available, the Majalengka government has a chance to acquire shares in BIJB Kertajati," he added.
