Qatar Airways has appointed its new Master of Wine, Anne Krebiehl, who will play a crucial role in maintaining the airline's reputation as a provider of the finest customer experience in the world. Anne Krebiehl is one of only 421 individuals globally to hold the prestigious Master of Wine qualification, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge in the industry to the World’s Best Airline, as recognized by Skytrax in 2024. She is an acclaimed writer, editor, and wine judge. Ms. Krebiehl will be responsible for meticulously curating the airline's wine selection and procurement strategy, securing sought-after wines for First and Business Class passengers, and ensuring that Qatar Airways remains at the forefront of industry trends. The procurement of wine for commercial airlines is a complex process, as low humidity and cabin pressure affect passengers' taste perception and their ability to enjoy intricate flavors. With her expertise, Ms. Krebiehl will take these factors into account when designing the wine menu for Qatar Airways. Additionally, she will collaborate with wineries to create unique blends specifically tailored for Economy Class passengers, ensuring optimal performance at an altitude of 40,000 feet. This process will also incorporate innovations in sustainable packaging to support the airline's commitment to sustainability. As Qatar Airways' Master of Wine, Krebiehl will taste over 1,000 bottles of wine each year through blind testing. The Qatar Airways committee is dedicated to selecting wines based solely on taste, rather than labels, critic scores, or price, resulting in a diverse and unique in-flight wine collection. In recent years, Qatar Airways has consistently been recognized for its wine selections through international awards such as Cellars in the Sky from Business Traveller and Wines on the Wing from Global Traveller.
