Members Of Commission V Of The DPR Have Requested That AirNav Indonesia Update Its Equipment

Thursday, 05 Dec 2024

Member of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Danang Wicaksana Sulistya, has urged AirNav Indonesia to promptly address various issues related to equipment and operational management, as these are crucial for aviation.

In a statement released in Yogyakarta on Wednesday, Danang emphasized that AirNav Indonesia, as the sole government-designated air navigation service provider, plays a vital role in managing airspace for domestic, international, and military flights.

"AirNav Indonesia bears significant responsibility for maintaining the sovereignty of our airspace. However, with outdated equipment, the efficiency and safety of flights may be jeopardized. This matter should not be taken lightly," Danang remarked during a working meeting of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives, which discussed the readiness of infrastructure and transportation in preparation for Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025, held today in Jakarta on December 4, 2024.

During the meeting, Danang also highlighted several issues affecting the performance of AirNav Indonesia.

One of the primary concerns raised was regarding the Air Traffic Services (ATS) System equipment at the Jakarta Air Traffic Service Center (JATSC).

"The equipment currently in use is reportedly inadequate to meet operational demands. As the air traffic service center managing an average of 1,200 flights daily, the modernization of technology is deemed an urgent necessity," he stated.

In addition to technological aspects, Danang also pointed out the management of human resources within AirNav Indonesia.

He underscored the importance of enhancing the welfare of personnel directly involved in air navigation operations.

According to him, the growing operational demands must be matched with an efficient working system, along with support for the welfare and ongoing training of AirNav personnel.

"Our navigation officers are the frontline in ensuring flight safety. Their welfare must be a priority," he concluded.
