In anticipation of the Christmas holiday in 2024 and the New Year in 2025, Pelita Air has officially launched a new flight route between Jakarta and Medan. This initiative aims to address the public's demand for safe and comfortable transportation while also supporting the development of domestic tourism. Dendy Kurniawan, the President Director of Pelita Air, stated that the introduction of this route is part of the company's commitment to ensuring successful transportation during the holiday season. "The inauguration of Pelita Air flights to Medan is expected to provide options for the public, tourists, and business travelers seeking safe, comfortable, and timely travel to and from Medan," Dendy remarked in a statement on Sunday, December 15, 2024. According to Dendy, Medan is recognized as a prominent tourist destination, with Lake Toba, a national Super Priority Tourism Destination, serving as a major attraction for both domestic and international visitors. "With the establishment of this new route, we aim to contribute to the government's efforts in enhancing domestic tourism, particularly through improved air connectivity," he added. In addition to bolstering the tourism sector, this new route is anticipated to expand opportunities for business operators, both in Medan and from other cities, to access various regions across Indonesia. "Medan is a favored destination for many. Given this enthusiasm, we plan for Pelita Air to operate two flights daily to Medan," Dendy emphasized. New Fleet to Support Mobility To accommodate the increased mobility during the year-end holiday season, Pelita Air has expanded its fleet by introducing its twelfth Airbus A320 in November 2024. This addition is expected to provide optimal service, particularly for those wishing to spend their holidays in Medan. The Jakarta-Medan flights are scheduled to operate twice daily, with the first flight departing at 06:10 WIB and arriving in Medan at 08:35 WIB, while the second flight departs at 17:30 WIB and arrives at 19:50 WIB.
