The Ministry Of Transportation Has Announced That All Airlines Have Reduced Their Airfare Prices

The Ministry of Transportation, through the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, has announced that all airlines are complying with the government policy mandating a 10 percent reduction in airfare. Putu Eka Cahyadhi, Head of the Soekarno-Hatta Class I Airport Authority, stated that following the official release of this government policy, immediate monitoring was implemented. The oversight confirmed that no airline has failed to comply. "I believe all airlines have adhered to this policy, and our monitoring indicates that they are in compliance with the provisions set forth in the Minister of Transportation's Decree Number KM 150 of 2024, dated November 28, 2024," he remarked during a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. "We have conducted oversight, and the airlines have shown great adherence to the implementation, which applies to all routes. Therefore, there is no issue regarding airlines not executing the fare reduction," he added. 

Eka further mentioned that monitoring will continue until January 3, 2025. Should any airline be found non-compliant with this policy, the government will impose sanctions in accordance with the Minister of Transportation Regulation Number 27 of 2021 concerning the Procedures for Supervision and Imposition of Administrative Sanctions for Violations of Aviation Legislation. "However, there is a mechanism in place; a report must first be submitted to the technical Directorate before sanctions are applied," he clarified. 

Previously, the government decided to reduce domestic flight ticket prices by 10 percent during the Christmas and New Year period (Nataru) of 2024/2025. This price adjustment will be effective for 16 days, from December 19, 2024, to January 3, 2025. President Prabowo Subianto noted that this policy may be the first of its kind in several years, as prices typically rise during the year-end holiday season, including airfare.
