Wednesday, 25 Dec 2024

Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, has expressed its interest in launching flights on the Maldives-China route, as China has emerged as a key market for Maldivian tourism, according to a report by the Maldivian government broadcasting agency, PSM, on Sunday (December 22).

Ali Saleem, the Deputy Managing Director of Maldivian, informed PSM that with China being a primary market for Maldivian tourism, the airline plans to commence operations of wide-body aircraft on routes to China.

Maldivian will connect Velana International Airport with Beijing, Shanghai, and Chengdu, operating three flights per week. The Airbus A330-200 will provide seating in economy, business, and premium classes, as reported by PSM.

The flights to China are anticipated to accommodate approximately 60,000 passengers annually.
