The airline PT AirAsia Indonesia Tbk has announced the imminent launch of new flight routes in 2025 as part of its efforts to maintain connectivity. Veranita Yosephine, the CEO of Indonesia AirAsia, stated that the introduction of these new routes is expected to further enhance AirAsia's recovery in the aviation sector. "Currently, we operate a total of 32 routes. Next year, we anticipate adding approximately five to six new routes," she mentioned in a statement reported by i Jakarta on Sunday, January 12, 2025. She revealed that the planned expansion of new routes will take place once the maintenance processes for the aircraft are fully completed. "Our plan is to add and activate our entire fleet, which includes five additional aircraft currently undergoing maintenance," she explained. Furthermore, she indicated that to expedite the addition of new flight routes, the company will focus on optimizing the finalization of the aircraft maintenance process. "We are still in the finalization stage, as we want to complete the holiday season first to gauge public interest," she noted. Veranita acknowledged that the company has faced challenges in expanding its connectivity, particularly in adding new domestic routes. The required aircraft for these flights are still insufficient and not fully operational. "The challenge lies with the aircraft; it has taken longer than we anticipated. The realization of our fleet is not meeting our target due to a shortage of spare parts, which is experiencing scarcity in the global market as all airlines are competing to reactivate their planes," she stated.
