Finance Minister Hopes Airline Ticket Discounts Will Facilitate Domestic Flights During Homecoming

Tuesday, 04 Mar 2025

Airline ticket prices are discounted by 6% during homecoming. Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani hopes that this can help people who will travel by air during the 2025 Eid homecoming period for domestic flights.

The government through the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) has officially provided a discount or value-added tax (VAT) incentive for domestic economy class airline tickets by covering 6% of the total tax rate. This policy is stated in the Regulation of the Minister of Finance (PMK) Number 18 of 2025.

"This PMK concerns the value-added tax borne by the government in part for domestic economy tickets for our people who will travel. This PMK applies to ticket purchases from March 1, 2025 to April 7, 2025, with flight schedules between March 24, 2025 to April 7, 2025," explained Sri Mulyani in a press conference at Soekarno Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Banten, Saturday (1/3/2025).

The Minister of Finance admitted that his party coordinated with related ministries to be involved in providing relief during the 2025 Eid homecoming moment.

This is also in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto's direction to help the community when facing the 2025 Eid holiday. Considering that there is a tradition of going home during the holiday.

According to him, with the existence of PMK 18/2025, passengers only need to pay 5% VAT, while the remaining 6% is borne by the government. This incentive is expected to reduce the price of domestic economy class airline tickets by 13%-14%.

"For those who have already bought, they may not be affected, because they bought it yesterday, but on March 1 they can still do it," said Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani.
