Monday, 21 Apr 2025

Batik Air has announced the launch of a direct flight route from Kuala Lumpur to Dili, Timor Leste, which will commence operations twice a week starting June 6, 2025.

Chandran Rama Muthy, the Chief Executive of Batik Air, stated in a press release in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday that this route not only strengthens the diplomatic and economic ties between Malaysia and Timor Leste but also promotes opportunities in tourism, trade, and investment for both nations.

The airline's expansion to Dili marks a significant advancement in regional aviation, enhancing accessibility, fostering economic growth, and reinforcing Malaysia's aviation presence in Southeast Asia.

The flight duration from Kuala Lumpur to Dili is approximately four hours and 15 minutes, operating without any layovers, thus providing a quicker connection.

He noted that this new route will further solidify Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA 1) as a key strategic transit hub in the region.

The introduction of this route aligns with Batik Air's vision to connect new destinations and is expected to enhance business collaboration, educational exchanges, and cultural interactions between the two countries, he added.

Regarding the people of Timor Leste, Chandran mentioned that this new service will offer broader access, allowing passengers to easily connect to over 60 destinations across 20 countries through Kuala Lumpur, including major cities in ASEAN, China, North Asia, the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East, and Central Asia.
