The Indonesian government is enhancing the national aviation industry through the development of a Maintenance area at Kertajati Airport in Majalengka, West Java. This was announced by the Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi. The Minister stated that Kertajati Airport boasts a strategic location and exceptional industrial potential. The establishment of the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) and Aerospace Park is expected to be a significant milestone. Currently, 46 percent of national aircraft undergo maintenance abroad. The introduction of the Kertajati Aircraft Maintenance Center (KAMC), which spans 84.2 hectares and is part of the 3,480-hectare Kertajati Aerocity, will address this issue, according to Dudy Purwagandhi in a press statement in Jakarta on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. Dudy emphasized that Indonesia will have an integrated aircraft maintenance base that is anticipated to reduce operational costs. He noted that collaboration among the central government, local governments, state-owned enterprises, and the private sector will be crucial for the success of this development. 'We at the Ministry of Transportation are fully prepared to support this initiative, including in terms of transportation connectivity and cross-sector policy alignment,' stated the Minister. Meanwhile, the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, expressed that this collaborative integration will further advance Kertajati Airport in West Java. He mentioned that Kertajati Airport is projected to evolve into an aerospace park, a world-class international airport. 'If we can enter the world-class aerospace industry, it will strengthen the contribution of Indonesia's aviation industry,' said AHY.
