Batik Air Opens New Route From Surabaya To Balikpapan

Batik Air is launching a new route from Surabaya to Balikpapan starting November 10. This route aims to make travel easier for business travelers and tourists heading to the new capital city, IKN.

Surabaya, known as the city of heroes, will be connected to Balikpapan, which serves as the main gateway to IKN. Surabaya has Juanda International Airport (SUB), while Balikpapan has SAMS Sepinggan International Airport (BPN).

With the new Surabaya-Balikpapan route starting on November 10, passengers will enjoy several conveniences. For business travelers, Batik Air will provide quicker access to IKN.

"Faster access allows businesspeople to speed up their operations and explore investment opportunities in the IKN area. Additionally, this efficient travel time facilitates business meetings and collaborations across regions," said Danang Mandala Prihantoro, Corporate Communications Strategist of Batik Air, in a statement on Thursday (October 31, 2024).

In addition to benefiting business travel, Batik Air will also make it easier for tourists from Surabaya to visit Balikpapan and its surroundings. East Kalimantan is known for its various must-visit destinations.

Danang mentioned some of these attractions, including Bukit Bangkirai, Melawai Beach, and the bear honey tourism area. Tourists from East Kalimantan can easily reach tourist spots in Surabaya and its surroundings, enjoy local cuisine, and remember the history of heroes, he said.

Additionally, the new Batik Air route will benefit the general public for various needs. Danang mentioned that this new route is expected to enhance mobility and interaction between regions. The opening of this route also aims to assist the government in accelerating development and improving access to the new capital city.

"This route is expected to support economic growth, facilitate labor access, and strengthen integration among business centers in Indonesia," Danang stated.
