UOB Indonesia Updates The Benefits Of The UOB PRIVIMiles Card, Offering Faster Miles Accumulation In ASEAN

Thursday, 05 Dec 2024

UOB Indonesia has announced an update to the UOB PRIVIMiles Card, which allows customers to earn miles faster for popular travel destinations in ASEAN, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. This card update is being launched simultaneously across the ASEAN region. The value proposition of the UOB PRIVIMiles Card focuses on regional connectivity, providing easy access to UOB services for travelers from Indonesia.

According to the ASEAN Consumer Sentiment Study 2024 conducted by UOB, more than three out of five Indonesian consumers spend money in ASEAN countries, mainly for business trips and leisure travel.

Most spending abroad occurs in Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. Among payment methods used overseas, 63% of Indonesian consumers prefer to pay with physical or mobile credit/debit cards, while only 49% favor cash payments.

With the rise in travel, especially to ASEAN countries, the UOB PRIVIMiles Card offers faster miles accumulation when shopping at tourist destinations in ASEAN (cardholders earn 1 mile for every Rp4,500 spent).

Additionally, cardholders can enjoy free access to premium airport lounges worldwide with Priority Pass up to two times a year, along with travel insurance coverage of up to Rp25 billion. This ensures a worry-free travel experience for customers.

Cristina Teh Tan, Consumer Banking Director at UOB Indonesia, stated, “We recognize the growing trend of travel among consumers and aim to make international travel more rewarding through the continuously improved UOB PRIVIMiles Card.”

Data from UOB Indonesia shows a 23 percent increase in spending on travel destinations in ASEAN and a 17 percent rise in overall spending abroad from December 2023 to July 2024.

This indicates that Indonesians are increasingly enjoying travel, highlighting the importance of travel-focused benefits that align with their lifestyles. With the updated UOB PRIVIMiles Card, we aim to support our customers during their travels and enhance the value of their transactions abroad.

According to Indonesia's Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the number of Indonesians traveling abroad reached 660,000 in 2024, marking a 17.8 percent increase from the previous year. Malaysia and Singapore are the top destinations for Indonesian travelers, with 31.2 percent choosing Malaysia and 13.7 percent opting for Singapore.
