The Ministry of Transportation is actively working to innovate in the transportation sector to make services easier and better for the public. One of the initiatives is the direct train service, which was tested on Monday (December 9). "To celebrate Christmas and the New Year, PT. KAI has launched a direct train service connecting Gambir Station in Jakarta to Semarang Tawang Station. This non-stop journey offers an alternative transportation option between Jakarta and Semarang," said Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi at Gambir Station in Jakarta on Monday (December 9). The Minister mentioned that the direct train service was tested and made available exclusively to the public on December 9 and 10, 2024. Future evaluations of the service and public interest will continue. Additionally, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Tohir, who was also present, stated that the direct train initiative aims to enhance services according to public needs. "Thank you, Minister, for your hard work in guiding us at the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises and all transportation sectors, including land, sea, air, and rail," said Minister Erick. Meanwhile, PT. KAI's President Director Didiek Hartantyo explained that the direct train service was made possible due to the Minister's discretion regarding train operators' working hours, which will be assessed based on the results of the trial. "This breakthrough originated from the Minister's idea. We are innovating with his support, and everything meets good governance and safety standards, including the crew," Didiek added.
