Traditional games in Indonesia are a cultural treasure passed down through generations. Games like Congklak, gasing, egrang, and gobak sodor are not just for fun; they also teach important values such as teamwork, creativity, strategy, and respect for local traditions. To preserve these traditional games amid the rise of technology and modern lifestyles, Sinar Mas Land successfully organized the Festival Dolanan Khatulistiwa 2024, held from November 30 to December 1, 2024, at Kampung Dolanan Khatulistiwa in Rawa Buntu, Serpong, South Tangerang. The Festival Dolanan Khatulistiwa 2024 brought together visitors of all ages, from children to adults, and was attended by notable figures like Heru Sudarmanto (Head of the South Tangerang Tourism Office), Syaifuddin (Camat Serpong), Harun (Lurah Rawa Buntu), and community leader Mpok Wati from the Women’s Empowerment Group. The festival featured various activities, including a Dolanan tour, traditional dance performances, a Wayang Golek show by Ki Dalang Endang Setia, creative drama performances, and workshops where participants made puppets from cassava leaves and kris from coconut fronds. There were also entertaining storytelling and magic shows focused on the diversity of traditional games in Indonesia. Dony Martadisata, Managing Director of the President Office at Sinar Mas Land, stated that the Festival Dolanan Khatulistiwa aims to revive the excitement of traditional games and encourage today’s children to enjoy play experiences beyond their screens. In a digital age where children often focus too much on gadgets, this festival seeks to broaden their horizons by promoting direct interaction, enhancing social skills, and encouraging collaboration among individuals. This festival, initiated by the Corporate Social Responsibility & Green Initiative (CSR & GI) division of Sinar Mas Land, also celebrates the first anniversary of Kampung Dolanan Khatulistiwa, which has become a center for preserving traditional games in BSD City. Kampung Dolanan Khatulistiwa (KADO KITA), the festival's location, is an educational tourism village created by Sinar Mas Land in collaboration with the community of Kampung Dadap Barat, Rawa Buntu. Its goal is to preserve culture and combat gadget addiction. KADO KITA features various traditional children's games and offers visitors a fun experience with different traditional activities. KADO KITA serves as a space for preserving traditional games and a place for children and families to enjoy interactive and educational play. Kampung Dolanan Khatulistiwa is open to the public every Tuesday from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Group visits can be scheduled by agreement.
