Indonesia is really stepping up its game to boost the competitiveness of its national industry on the global stage by participating in the Manufacturing World Osaka (MWO) exhibition happening from October 2-4, 2024, in Japan. Ten Indonesian manufacturing players are getting the chance to showcase their innovations and top products to visitors from all over the world as co-exhibitors at this event.

These ten participants are being supported with a booth by the Ministry of Industry, featuring the theme “Making Indonesia 4.0.” This initiative aims to promote the ongoing implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies and attract investments from global investors.

“The participation of Indonesia in this year’s Manufacturing World Osaka has yielded impressive results. We’ve secured over USD 10 million in business agreements with Japanese companies through this event,” said the Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, in a statement from Jakarta on Friday, October 11.

The Minister highlighted that these partnerships show that domestic technology and innovation are gaining global recognition. “We are optimistic that this collaboration will open up even greater investment opportunities, accelerate the transformation to Industry 4.0 in our country, and enhance Indonesia's industrial competitiveness internationally,” he added.

Moreover, achieving agreements worth USD 10 million is a significant step in promoting Indonesian industry globally. “This agreement not only showcases the potential of Indonesian products but also reflects foreign confidence in the quality and competitiveness of our national industry. This success serves as motivation for industry players to keep innovating and adapting to technological advancements,” Agus explained.

During the exhibition, Indonesia's booth attracted over 500 visitors, including industry players, academics, and other stakeholders. The enthusiasm from attendees highlighted a strong interest in the products and technologies offered by Indonesian industry.

Additionally, the co-exhibitors showcased not just their products but also the technological advantages used in their production processes. "This is a strategic move to boost Indonesia's competitiveness on the international stage," said Eko S.A. Cahyanto, the Acting Director General of Industrial Resilience, Regional Development, and International Industrial Access (KPAII).

Eko emphasized that Indonesia's participation is part of the government's efforts to attract foreign investors, including extensive market sounding to potential investors about the investment opportunities in Indonesia. "Equally important is the branding of advanced industries to existing companies in Indonesia," he added.

To enhance collaboration opportunities, co-exhibitors actively visited Japanese company booths that could be potential buyers. "This activity allows them to gain deeper insights into the Japanese market's needs and the latest trends in the manufacturing industry. With this approach, we hope Indonesian industry players will be better prepared to meet international buyers' expectations and needs," Eko stated.

According to Syahroni Ahmad, the Director of Industrial Resource Access and International Promotion (ASDIPI), the success of this exhibition marks a significant step for Indonesia in promoting its manufacturing industry to be more competitive. "With full support from the Ministry of Industry, we hope domestic industries can continue to innovate and seize opportunities in the international market," he explained.
