Friday, 25 Apr 2025

The Indonesian film industry is currently reaping the rewards of its hard work, leading to a surge in optimism. Many classic films are being revived with fresh narratives, as noted by actor Fedi Nuril and executive producer of the film 'Mendadak Dangdut', Indra Setiawan. 'We (the Indonesian film community) are grateful that today the Indonesian film industry is enjoying its successes, as many films have thrived, and we take great pride in the success of both 'Jumbo' and other films,' Indra stated in Setiabudi, South Jakarta, on Tuesday.

He mentioned that in March, audiences were presented with a plethora of captivating films, ranging from emotional dramas to thrilling horror, as well as entertaining features like 'Jumbo', which attracted 6 million viewers by its 22nd day of screening, making it the highest-grossing film of Eid 2025. This momentum is significant for filmmakers. 'For me, that is what matters. I hope the audience leaves feeling happy and satisfied,' Indra expressed.

Many successful films from previous decades are being re-produced, such as 'Mendadak Dangdut', contributing to the current vibrancy of Indonesian cinema. Fedi Nuril remarked that the increasing public trust in domestic films is establishing Indonesian cinema as a leader in its own country, and this trust must be maintained. 'Public confidence in Indonesian films is on the rise, and this is a moment where we must continue to uphold that trust,' Fedi stated after the screening of 'Mendadak Dangdut' in Setiabudi, South Jakarta, on Tuesday. Furthermore, Fedi sees significant opportunities for the younger generation aspiring to enter the cinematography field. With the current surge in film production, the demand for skilled labor across various sectors of the film industry is growing.
