The government, in collaboration with the House of Representatives (DPR), has established the cost of organizing the Hajj pilgrimage (BPIH) for the year 2025 at IDR 89,410,258. Of this total, the cost of the Hajj pilgrimage journey (Bipih) that each pilgrim will bear amounts to IDR 55,431,750. Previously, the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) proposed a BPIH of IDR 93,389,684, with the burden on pilgrims reaching IDR 65,372,779. However, the Hajj Working Committee of the DPR believed that this cost could be further reduced and requested that the BPIH remain below IDR 90 million. What Factors Contributed to the Decrease in Hajj Costs? During a meeting at the DPR, the government presented a new scheme with a BPIH of IDR 89,666,469.26, where each pilgrim would incur a cost of IDR 55,593,201.57. Despite a reduction of approximately IDR 10 million, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Romo Muhammad Syafi'i indicated that further reductions were possible. "Currently, it stands at around IDR 55 million... We aim to lower it further (from IDR 55.5 million), to about IDR 55.3 million. We will continue to refine this, and God willing, it will be finalized as we initially stated; the cost of Hajj will certainly decrease, and it has already been reduced," Romo stated at the DPR building in Senayan, Jakarta. He also emphasized that the reduction in Hajj costs for 2025 would not compromise the quality of services provided. He expressed confidence that the competitive landscape of service providers in Saudi Arabia has become increasingly robust, allowing for the delivery of high-quality services at more affordable prices. "With numerous competitors now, they are also matching their offerings with good service options," he explained. Is there a hidden agenda from Prabowo regarding the reduction in Hajj costs? Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar noted that President Prabowo Subianto is committed to alleviating the financial burden on Hajj pilgrims by reducing the costs for 2025. "This is primarily President Prabowo's ambition for us at Kemenag and BPH, to ensure that the burden on future pilgrims is lightened without compromising the quality of the Hajj experience," he stated.
