The Ministry of Industry is actively collaborating with various parties, including foreign entities, to enhance the competence of human resources in the industrial sector in Indonesia. One of the efforts undertaken is through the continuation of cooperation between the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI) of the Ministry of Industry and the human resources development organization in Japan, namely through the Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS). "This working visit is a continuation of the cooperation between the Indonesian Government and Japan through the human resources productivity improvement program implemented by AOTS with the 5S and Kaizen activities," said the Head of BPSDMI of the Ministry of Industry, Masrokhan, in Tokyo on Wednesday (26/6). During this working visit, the Head of BPSDMI was accompanied by the Industrial Attaché in Tokyo, Sofyari Rahman. This synergy program has been implemented since 2022 and has been beneficial, both for the educational units of the Ministry of Industry and industrial companies. "If 5S and Kaizen are implemented properly and consistently, it will create an efficient, safe, and comfortable working environment, thus improving our productivity," said Masrokhan. Based on the experiences gained from the implementation of phases 1 and 2 in the industry, the implementation of 5S and Kaizen has shown an increase in productivity with efficiency in various forms of waste, such as space and time wastage. In addition, the application of 5S will also reduce the risk of work accidents and create a safe working environment. Through the signing of this technical agreement, it is expected that the culture of 5S and Kaizen can be enhanced, both in the educational units of the Ministry of Industry and in the industry. This cooperation program is also expected to produce trainers who are experts in Kaizen from teachers and lecturers, so that they can train small and medium-sized industries as well as large industries in Indonesia to further improve their productivity. The technical agreement was signed by the Head of BPSDMI Kemenperin RI, Masrokhan, and the Senior Executive Director of AOTS Japan, Tateishi Joji. The scope of this cooperation includes AOTS sending one Japanese expert three times during the agreement period, in accordance with AOTS regulations for training programs. The technical agreement is valid until March 31, 2025. Furthermore, the Japanese expert will conduct lectures and provide technical guidance to trainees from Indonesia participating in the Productivity Trainer Training so that they can independently promote productivity improvement activities. Training sessions by Japanese experts will be conducted online or offline. Meanwhile, BPSDMI will recruit participants for the Productivity Trainer Training program. Then, they will assign industrial companies as partners based on the region where the trainees are located. "We will also encourage educational units to create autonomous cycles and environments. Each graduate will continue to guide productivity improvement in around three new manufacturing companies after the training ends through community service programs and other programs organized by educational units," said Masrokhan. Participants will receive a training certificate signed by both parties, BPSDMI and AOTS Japan. "Hopefully, this cooperation will be a productive effort in strengthening the relationship between the two countries, Indonesia and Japan, which have been strategic partners, including in the development of competent industrial human resources," he concluded.
