President Prabowo Subianto is set to launch the Investment Management Agency (BPI) Daya Anagata Nusantara, also known as Danantara, today, February 24, 2025. This announcement was made during his speech at the World Governments Summit 2025. According to Prabowo, the Indonesian government is prepared to introduce its latest sovereign wealth fund, Danantara, which, based on preliminary evaluations, is expected to manage assets totaling US$ 900 billion. The initial funding is targeted at US$ 20 billion. "This year, we aim to reach an initial funding of 20 billion US dollars. I believe this will be a transformative step. We plan to initiate approximately 15 to 20 projects valued at a billion dollars each, which will significantly benefit our nation," Prabowo stated. He explained that the funds within the superholding of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Danantara will be invested in strategic projects across various sectors. He expressed hope that these sustainable projects will contribute to achieving Indonesia's economic growth target of eight percent over the next five years. "Danantara, launching on February 24, will invest our natural resources and state assets into sustainable and high-impact projects across sectors such as renewable energy, downstream industries, advanced manufacturing, and food production, among others," Prabowo remarked at the World Governments Summit 2025. Danantara operates by pooling assets from BUMN to generate revenue. These assets may be used as collateral for loans or even sold. The head of Danantara, Muliaman Darmansyah Hadad, indicated that Danantara's role is to manage state investments outside the State Budget (APBN). Muliaman noted that the establishment of Danantara reflects Prabowo's commitment to optimizing the management of state investments.
