Tuesday, 18 Mar 2025

Danantara Indonesia is ranked sixth in the list of the world's strongest sovereign wealth funds (SWFs), according to The World in Maps report. With assets under management (AUM) reaching US$983 billion, this Indonesian SWF has surpassed some of the oldest funds in the world.

"One of the highlights in this year's ranking is the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency, SWF Indonesia. With an extraordinary value of US$983 billion," as quoted from @the.world.in.maps, Saturday, March 15, 2025.

Unlike many other SWFs based on natural resources, Danantara Indonesia focuses more on infrastructure, digital transformation, and sustainable development. This strategy has attracted the interest of global investors who want to take advantage of Indonesia's rapid economic growth.

"This SWF is growing rapidly, even surpassing some of the oldest SWFs in the world. Unlike natural resource-based funds, SWF Indonesia focuses more on infrastructure and the digital economy, attracting the interest of global investors who want to take advantage of the country's economic growth," wrote The World in Maps.

In addition to being a container for managing BUMN assets, Danantara Indonesia also plays a role as a strategic instrument to strengthen Indonesia's economic industry and global market. The report highlights that with the increasing influence of SWFs such as Danantara, global investment trends are shifting away from traditional financial centers.

"With countries such as Indonesia rapidly rising in the rankings, the SWF landscape is becoming increasingly diverse, marking a shift away from traditional financial centers," the report added.

In line with its achievements, President Prabowo Subianto invited American billionaire Ray Dalio to provide input regarding Danantara's investment management. In a meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Prabowo emphasized the importance of the right investment strategy so that Indonesia's asset management can be carried out properly.

"We invite all parties who can give us critical views, their experiences on how they invest, so that later the management of Indonesia's assets can be carried out as well as possible, as carefully as possible," said the President as quoted by Metro Siang Metro TV, Monday, March 10, 2025.

Danantara CEO, Rosan Roeslani, also gave a signal that Ray Dalio might be involved in the management of the institution. "If he comes here today and shares with us, of course he is also grateful, we shook hands earlier," he said.
