IKN Is Ready To Welcome The 79th Indonesian Independence Day Ceremony With Maximum Preparation

Thursday, 25 Jul 2024

Preparations for the Flag Ceremony of the 79th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence Day in the Capital of the Archipelago (IKN) on August 17, 2024 are progressing rapidly. The construction of main infrastructure such as the State Palace and parade ground, the Presidential Office, and other ministry offices are being accelerated to ensure everything is ready on time.

Ensuring the availability of clean water is a top priority. Danis H. Sumadilaga, the Head of the Infrastructure Development Implementation Task Force in IKN, ensures that the raw water sources in IKN, including the Sepaku River Intake and the Sepaku Semoi Dam, have sufficient capacity and will be ready for use soon.

"The Sepaku River Intake has a capacity of 3,000 liters per second, while the Sepaku Semoi Dam has a capacity of 2,500 liters per second," Danis revealed.

The process of providing clean water involves several stages, starting from water treatment at the Water Treatment Plant (IPA), pumping water to the Palace through a 16 km pipeline, storing it in the main reservoir, and distributing it to offices through a 22.8 km pipeline. "The construction of the facilities and infrastructure is already completed, but like a new car, it needs a test drive that takes time," Danis added.

Furthermore, preparations for other facilities and infrastructure such as the State Palace, Presidential Office, Coordinating Ministry Offices (Kemenko), and State Secretariat Ministry (Kemensetneg) are also being rushed for completion. Data from the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing as of July 18, 2024 shows that the progress of the construction of the State Palace and parade ground has reached 87.6%, while the construction of the Presidential Office has reached 88.5%. Danis emphasizes that currently, there are 1,300 people working on completing the interior of the State Palace and 1,400 people at the Presidential Office. The construction of the National Axis/Ceremony Plaza Phase I is already 100% complete and ready to be used for the activities of the August 17, 2024 Ceremony.

The progress of the construction of the Secretariat of the President's Office and its supporting buildings is already at 93.86% and is targeted to be fully operational in July 2024. The construction progress of the Ministry of State Secretariat's Office has reached 84% at the moment. Meanwhile, the progress of the construction of the Coordinating Ministry buildings varies, Coordinating Ministry 1 at 83.4%; Coordinating Ministry 2 at 42.7%; Coordinating Ministry 3 at 87.9%; and Coordinating Ministry 4 at 91.5%. The plan is for all Coordinating Ministry buildings to be fully operational in August 2024, and will be used to support the activities of the August 17, 2024 Ceremony. The development of the toll road from Balikpapan to the National Capital Integrated Coastal Development (IKN) is also very significant. This toll road is targeted to be operational when the President visits IKN on August 4, 2024, reducing the land travel time from two and a half hours to one and a half hours. To ensure that all preparations are going according to plan, the Publicity and Public Relations Team of the 79th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence Celebration Organizing Committee, consisting of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo) and the Ministry of State Secretariat, along with the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) and the National Capital Integrated Coastal Development Authority (OIKN), conducted a working visit to IKN on July 19, 2024. This visit includes inspections at several important locations such as the Seremony Plaza/National Axis, the Presidential Office, and the Sepaku River Intake. With all the preparations underway, the Publicity and Public Relations Team of the 79th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence Celebration Organizing Committee is confident that this year's flag ceremony will run smoothly and successfully. These preparations are expected to provide a new spirit for all Indonesian people in welcoming the progress and development of the National Capital Integrated Coastal Development.
