Erick Thohir Appoints Maya Watono As CEO Of In Journey

Erick Thohir has appointed Maya Watono as the Chief Executive Officer of the State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) in the aviation and tourism sector, PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero), also known as InJourney, on Thursday, November 21, 2024. This appointment was made following the decisions reached during the General Meeting of Shareholders (GMS) of PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero) held on the same date. The decision is documented in the Decree of the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Number SK-282/MBU/11/2024. Maya Watono succeeds Dony Oskaria, who has been appointed as the Deputy Minister of BUMN for the 2024-2029 term by President Prabowo Subianto. Prior to this, Maya Watono served as the Director of Marketing and Tourism Programs at InJourney since January 14, 2022, and was designated as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of InJourney on October 21, 2024.

According to Yudhistira Setiawan, the Acting Corporate Secretary Group Head of InJourney, Maya Watono has demonstrated exceptional dedication in her roles, both as the Director of Marketing and Tourism Programs and as the Acting Chief Executive Officer. She has successfully overseen the transformation of InJourney into a state-owned holding company that significantly contributes to the economy, particularly in the tourism and aviation sectors. "We welcome the outcome of today's GMS. Ms. Maya Watono has consistently exhibited strong leadership at InJourney," he stated. Maya Watono was born in Jakarta on May 12, 1982, and completed her Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Science (Honors) at the University of Western Australia in 2004.

Her career in advertising commenced 17 years ago. Maya has held several significant positions, including General Manager of Dwi Sapta Group from 2007 to 2014, CEO of Dwi Sapta Group from 2015 to 2018, and she became the first and youngest woman to serve as Country CEO of Dentsu Indonesia from 2019 to 2022.
