President Prabowo Subianto officially announced an increase in teacher salaries starting in 2025. This news was revealed by Prabowo during the peak celebration of Teacher's Day at the Velodrome in Rawamangun, East Jakarta, on Thursday, November 28, 2024. "Today, I stand before the teachers with a sense of calm because I can convey that, although we have only been in power for one month, we are already able to announce an improvement in the welfare of teachers," Prabowo emphasized in his speech, as reported by Kemdikdasmen's YouTube broadcast. The salary increase will apply to civil servant teachers (PNS), government employees with work agreements (PPPK), and honorary teachers. Prabowo stated that the budget for the welfare of teachers classified as civil servants and PPPK, as well as non-civil servant or honorary teachers, has been increased. The details of the salary increase include an additional one month’s salary for PNS teachers and an increase of IDR 2 million for non-PNS teachers who have completed certification or professional education programs (PPG). "Civil servant teachers will receive an additional welfare benefit equivalent to one month’s basic salary. For non-civil servant teachers, their professional allowance will be raised to IDR 2 million," Prabowo explained. As of 2025, there are 1,932,666 certified educators, representing 64.4 percent of the total number of teachers. This figure reflects an increase of 620 certified educators compared to 2024. Furthermore, the budget allocated for the welfare of both PNS and non-PNS teachers will reach IDR 81.6 trillion in 2025, marking an increase of approximately IDR 16.7 trillion. Additionally, Prabowo confirmed that there will be a Professional Education Program (PPG) for 806,486 teachers in 2025. "In line with our government's commitment to enhance the welfare and quality of teachers in 2025, we will implement PPG for 806,486 ASN and non-ASN teachers who meet the educational qualifications of D4 and S1," Prabowo stated.
