PDIP Will Not Become A Strong Opposition! Political Analyst: There Are Signals

Political communication analyst from Brawijaya University, Verdy Firmantoro, assesses that the statement made by the Chairperson of the PDIP, Megawati Soekarnoputri, strongly indicates that her party does not intend to adopt a hard opposition stance during President Prabowo Subianto's administration.  

Verdy articulated that Megawati's assertion of not being adversarial towards Prabowo is a strategic move aimed at enhancing the bargaining position of the PDIP. "By maintaining a positive relationship with Prabowo, Megawati signals that the PDIP will not take on a rigid and uncompromising opposition role. This also creates opportunities for political flexibility within the party," Verdy stated on Sunday, January 12, 2025. H 

e further noted that although the PDIP is not part of KIM Plus, the personal rapport between Megawati and Prabowo remains strong. This reflects a maturity in politics, where both leaders, as statesmen, prioritize national interests. Additionally, Verdy remarked that Megawati's statement also suggests the PDIP's readiness to engage in political collaboration. "Megawati has opened significant opportunities for the PDIP, even while it is currently outside the government. However, with the continued maintenance of good relations, the potential for collaboration with Prabowo remains very much alive," he added.
