The spokesperson for the DPP PDIP, Guntur Romli, has refuted claims that the party's Chairperson, Megawati Soekarnoputri, will discuss the case of Hasto Kristiyanto during a meeting with President Prabowo Subianto. Guntur's remarks come in response to recent speculation regarding a potential meeting between Megawati and Prabowo, coinciding with the ongoing legal issues facing Hasto at the KPK. He characterized these rumors as unfounded allegations. "Moreover, as I have heard, there are speculations that there will be discussions concerning the case involving the Secretary-General of PDI Perjuangan, Mas Hasto Kristiyanto, who is currently facing criminalization in a legal matter," Guntur stated in his remarks on Thursday (January 16). "This information is incorrect and represents baseless accusations," he added. Guntur emphasized that, although a meeting has not yet occurred, Megawati and Prabowo share a long-standing friendship rooted in both historical and ideological contexts. Historically, he noted, they were united as a pair during the 2009 presidential election as MegaPro. Ideologically, both are leaders of nationalist political parties. Furthermore, Guntur mentioned that the two have maintained communication through their respective representatives. He indicated that Megawati has senior party members, such as Puan Maharani, Olly Dondokambey, Pramono Anung, and Ahmad Basarah, who often serve as her envoys. "Should such a meeting take place, the topics discussed will pertain to state and national agendas, rather than political deals," he asserted. Recently, the prospect of a meeting between Prabowo and Megawati gained attention following the celebration of PDIP's 52nd anniversary on Friday (January 10). This idea has been positively received by the leadership of both parties. DPP PDIP Chairman Ahmad Basarah remarked that the meeting between Megawati and Prabowo may simply be a matter of timing. He affirmed that the relationship between Megawati and Prabowo, who is also the Chairman of Gerindra, remains strong.
