PDI Perjuangan considers the detention of Hasto Kristiyanto to be political and an attack on the party. According to him, Hasto, who is the Secretary General (Sekjen) of PDIP, has an important role in the party organization. "This is a political detention and this is a new chapter that we consider as an attack on our party," said PDIP DPP Chairman Ronny Talapessy, in a press conference at the PDIP DPP building, Jakarta, Thursday (20/2/2025). According to Ronny, this detention proves that Hasto has been targeted. Moreover, PDIP is currently in the preparation period for the party congress. "This detention proves the information that PDI Perjuangan Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto was indeed targeted to be detained before the party congress. Why is that? Because the role as a secretary general is very important in a political party organization," he said. "This detention is part of a political operation to disrupt the party," he said. According to Ronny, Hasto has been cooperative during the legal process at the KPK. PDIP guarantees that Hasto will not run away or flee. "There is no urgency to detain him. Secretary General Mas Hasto Kristiyanto has always been cooperative and we are still following the trial process. If the reason is to flee, Mas Hasto will not go anywhere," he said. As is known, today the KPK detained Hasto Kristiyanto as a suspect in the alleged bribery and obstruction of investigation case of fugitive Harun Masiku. Hasto was detained after undergoing a second examination as a suspect. Hasto was seen leaving the examination room wearing an orange prison vest at 18.08 WIB. Both of Hasto's hands were seen handcuffed. Hasto will be detained at the KPK detention center for the first 20 days.
