Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has decided to form the Red and White Village Cooperative (Kopdes) which will be present in 70,000 villages throughout Indonesia. Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan said that this was decided by Prabowo after holding a meeting with a number of ministers at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (3/3/2025). "One thing that was decided was the formation of the Red and White Village Cooperative. So it is abbreviated as Kopdes Merah Putih. Well, it will be built in 70,000 villages," said Zulhas, Zulkifli's nickname, at the Presidential Palace Complex, Monday. Zulhas explained that Kopdes Merah Putih will accommodate agricultural products from the village. "So that later in the village there will be a center for economic activities and accommodate agricultural products in the village," he said. The general chairman of the National Mandate Party said that the budget for Kopdes Merah Putih will come from village funds. "Later, the budget will come from the existing village funds. The body, the cooperative brand, will be formed. Build a warehouse there with six outlets," said Zulhas. "One village is estimated to cost IDR 3-5 billion," he said. Meanwhile, Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions Yandri Susanto said the government would revise the Minister of Villages Regulation Number 2 of 2024 regarding the focus of the budget for the use of village funds. "We will revise it. The focus is on the Red and White Village Cooperative. In the end, the spirit is the same, how to achieve food self-sufficiency, how to do other things. The main point is that all villages advance, all villages develop well. We will build villages, build Indonesia," he said.
