President Prabowo And PKV Secretary General Agree To Strengthen ASEAN Solidarity

President Prabowo Subianto and Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam (PKV Secretary General) To Lam agreed to strengthen partnerships and solidarity among ASEAN members. 

President Prabowo, while delivering a joint statement with To Lam at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday, said that Indonesia and Vietnam agreed to support the ASEAN Vision 2045. 

"We also welcome the ASEAN Vision towards 2045 which will probably be declared at the ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur in May," said President Prabowo. 

Prabowo continued that Indonesia and Vietnam also agreed that peace and stability are the keys to achieving prosperity in the region. 

"We agree to continue to increase cooperation with other ASEAN partners," continued the President. 

At the same location, PKV Secretary General To Lam stated that Indonesia and Vietnam agreed to support each other including in regional forums such as ASEAN 

"We agree to realize a stronger ASEAN, especially in carrying out its roles, and also increasing solidarity, and implementing ASEAN principles for regional security," said To Lam. 

Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam and his wife Ngo Phu'o'ng Ly were in Jakarta on March 9-11, 2025 for a state visit, which also coincided with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Vietnam. 

To Lam's arrival was greeted with a state ceremony at the Merdeka Palace by President Prabowo, Monday afternoon. 

The two then met face to face (tête-à-tête), which was followed by a bilateral meeting between the Indonesian and Vietnamese delegations. 

The delegation from Indonesia included, among others, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Prof. Brian Yuliarto, Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, Minister of Investment and Downstream/Head of BKPM Rosan P. Roeslani, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
