The revision of the TNI Law (RUU) was passed today. The TNI Bill will be passed through a plenary session of the Indonesian House of Representatives. Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives said that it had completed the discussion of the Draft Law on Amendments to Law Number 34 of 2004 concerning the Indonesian National Army or the TNI Bill at the first level yesterday. This bill will be brought to a plenary session today to be passed into law. "Yes (brought to a plenary session today)," said Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives Dave Laksono when confirmed, Wednesday (19/3/2025) evening. The ratification meeting of the TNI Bill will be held in the plenary room, Nusantara II Building, Jalan Jenderal Gatot Subroto, Central Jakarta, today. The agenda of this meeting is scheduled to take place at 09.30 WIB. In addition to ratifying the TNI Bill, the plenary session of the Indonesian House of Representatives also listened to the opinions of the factions regarding 10 Bills on Regencies/Cities proposed by Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives. Continued with the decision-making to become a bill proposed by the DPR RI initiative. In this plenary session, a decision was also made regarding the Bill on the Third Amendment to Law Number 18 of 2017 concerning the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PPMI) which is an initiative proposal of the DPR RI Legislation Body. The event was continued with the decision-making to become a bill proposed by the DPR RI. Commission I-Government Agree to Bring the TNI Bill to Plenary Session Commission I of the DPR RI together with the government previously agreed that the revision of Law Number 34 of 2004 concerning the TNI or the TNI Bill be brought to level II or plenary to be passed into law. This agreement was made in a working meeting (Raker) for level I discussions on the TNI Bill, Tuesday (18/3). The meeting was attended by Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas, Deputy Minister of Defense Marshal Madya TNI (Ret.) Donny Ermawan Taufanto, representatives from the Ministry of State Secretariat to the Ministry of Finance. Utut said that this meeting was attended by all factions or 8 political parties in the DPR RI. "We have invited all stakeholders and finally we have also completed the Panja meeting followed by the formulation team and synchronization team and Timus, Timsin, have also reported to Panja. We have also had a meeting with the TNI commander, the Army, Navy and Air Force Chiefs of Staff," said Utut in the meeting. Utut stated that his party had discussed the TNI Bill by involving many parties. If at the first level the revision of the TNI Law is approved, then the bill will be brought to the plenary session.
