The seventh President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), acknowledged that he discussed various topics with President Prabowo Subianto during a joint iftar at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, including political matters. Jokowi confirmed that political discussions took place during the two-hour meeting, albeit in a limited capacity. "Yes, there were some political discussions," he stated when approached at his residence in Solo, as reported by Inilahjateng on Thursday, March 27, 2025. However, he refrained from providing further details about the specific political topics that were addressed, emphasizing that the primary focus of the meeting was on fostering relationships and sharing the iftar meal. "We had iftar and engaged in regular socializing. Given the length of the meeting, many subjects were covered, including a bit about politics and the country's developments," he added. When asked if there was any discussion regarding his relationship with the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Jokowi promptly dismissed the notion. He also clarified that there were no discussions related to Danantara. "There was no discussion about PDIP. There was also nothing regarding Danantara," he asserted. Previously, the Bureau of Press, Media, and Information (BPMI) of the Presidential Secretariat explained that President Prabowo specifically invited Jokowi to join him for iftar at the Presidential Lounge of the Palace. In an official report from BPMI, it was noted that Jokowi arrived at the Palace through the main gate, where he was welcomed by six members of the Presidential Security Force dressed in blue uniforms.
