The East Kalimantan Provincial Government has extended invitations to 400 community leaders from various districts and cities in East Kalimantan to participate in the 79th Independence Day commemoration ceremony of the Republic of Indonesia in the Capital City of the Archipelago (IKN). According to Secretary of the East Kalimantan National Unity and Political Agency (Kesbangpol) Ahmad Firdaus Kurniawan, the invitations are specifically directed towards traditional leaders, religious leaders, youth leaders, and women leaders who represent the diverse society of East Kalimantan. He mentioned that the list of the 400 invited community leaders has already been forwarded to the Presidential Secretariat for further verification and the issuance of official identification cards. From a variety of public figures who were invited, Firdaus mentioned that the majority were from Balikpapan, Penajam Paser Utara, Samarinda, and Kutai Kartanegara, which are the closest areas to the Government Center Core Area (KIPP) of the Archipelago Capital (IKN). In terms of transportation and accommodation for invitees, especially those coming from distant locations, the East Kalimantan Regional Government will provide assistance. As for the process of sending out invitations, Firdaus explained that the invitation list and identification cards will be sent through the Presidential Secretariat. "Subsequently, once the invitations are prepared and distributed by the Presidential Secretariat, we will then deliver them to the selected individuals through the Kesbangpol Agency in each district/city," he added. Furthermore, in order to preempt any possible social unrest that may arise due to the increased population density leading up to Independence Day, the East Kalimantan Kesbangpol Agency is collaborating with the Regional Police (Polda), the TNI, and the local Transportation Agency. "In conjunction with regional intelligence and relevant stakeholders, we have conducted a coordination meeting to ensure that the Independence Day celebrations at IKN proceed smoothly without any security issues in the buffer zone," stated Firdaus.
