The official inauguration of the members of the House of Representatives (DPR), the Regional Representative Council (DPD), and the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 term took place on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at the DPR/MPR building in Senayan, Jakarta. A total of 152 representatives from 38 provinces throughout Indonesia were sworn in as members of the DPD for this term. The DPD plays a vital role as a state institution in Indonesia, advocating for regional interests at the national level. Its responsibilities include submitting proposals, considerations, and opinions on legislative drafts (RUU) presented by the House of Representatives (DPR). Furthermore, the DPD is empowered to provide feedback or recommend amendments to legislative proposals that significantly affect the regions. The swearing-in ceremony for the DPD members for the 2024-2029 term was conducted by the interim Speaker of the Council, who was chosen from a group of six representatives, including both the youngest and oldest members. The three youngest representatives in the Regional Representative Council, listed by age, are: - Larasati Moriska, Electoral District of Kalimantan Utara (22 years old) - Cerint Iralloza Tasya, S.Ked., Electoral District of Sumatera Barat (23 years old) - Ratu Tenny Leriva, S.Ked., Electoral District of Sumatera Selatan (24 years old) Conversely, the three oldest representatives, also ranked by age, are: - Drs. Ismeth Abdullah, Electoral District of Kepulauan Riau (78 years old) - Habib Hamid Abdullah, S.H., M.H., Electoral District of Kalimantan Selatan (76 years old) - H. Almalik Pababari, Electoral District of Sulawesi Barat (75 years old) During this occasion, the Regional Representative Council also formed its leadership board as follows: Council Speaker: Sultan Najamudin (Bengkulu Representative) Deputy Speakers: - Gusti Kanjeng Ratu (GKR) Hemas (Yogyakarta) - Yorrys Raweyai (Central Papua) - Tamsil Linrung (South Sulawesi)
