Huawei, a global provider of ICT infrastructure and smart devices, has announced the conclusion of the Huawei National ICT Competition 2024 - 2025, marked by the award ceremony for the winners. This competition saw participation from over 900 students across 30 leading universities in Indonesia. In his speech, Acting Secretary General of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Togar Simatupang, praised Huawei's ongoing commitment to support the ministry in developing Indonesia's digital talent, particularly through the Certified Independent Study and Internship Program (MSIB). "This competition offers an excellent training platform for students and lecturers to shape their vision, devise solutions for various societal issues, understand industry challenges, grasp new concepts, and develop the right mindset to adapt to changes. I hope Huawei continues this competition to train young students in collaboration and problem-solving, helping them better understand current ICT trends and future challenges," Togar stated. Meanwhile, Yang Huang, Chief of Strategy Officer at Huawei Indonesia, emphasized the importance of collaboration among ecosystem stakeholders in developing digital talent. He noted that this sixth edition of the National ICT Competition is a testament to Huawei's ongoing commitment to supporting digital talent development, a key priority under President Prabowo Subianto's vision for Indonesia Gold 2045. "To date, Huawei has partnered with over 113 educational institutions and Huawei ICT Academy. Moving forward, Huawei will continue to collaborate with students and educators from various universities to share the latest ICT technologies and innovations," Yang H. added. The National ICT Competition 2024 – 2025, themed Connection, Glory, Future; I.C. The Future, is an annual event organized by Huawei to engage more deeply with students and faculty. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between education and industry. The winners of the national round, featuring four teams in Cloud Track, Network Track, Computing Track, and Innovation Track, will compete in the Asia Pacific regional round in February 2025 in Malaysia. If they succeed at this level, they will advance to the global finals of the Huawei ICT Competition. This competition has been recognized by the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas), an agency under the Ministry of National Education, as it aligns with the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program. One of MBKM's goals is to facilitate learning through industry exposure. Winners will benefit from Puspresnas, including greater opportunities for scholarships from the Ministry of National Education. Huawei Indonesia is committed to developing digital talent through the Huawei ASEAN Academy, which includes business, engineering, and ICT institutes. Since signing a cooperation agreement with the Indonesian government in 2020, Huawei has partnered with various ecosystem stakeholders to train Indonesia's digital talent through the 100K Digital Talent program. By December 2024, this program has trained over 130,000 digital talents.
